These Multi-protocol Solutions Provide Flexibility & Harmony in Video-signal Processing

Pericom Unveils Innovative DisplayPort Video Switch Solutions

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CES -- Pericom Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: PSEM) , a worldwide preferred supplier of high-speed integrated circuits and frequency control products, unveils its new video switching solutions for PC computing and consumer electronic products based on DisplayPort(TM) (DP), HDMI(TM), DVI and VGA protocols.

The new products include a DP-to-DP DeMultiplexer, two electrical bridges for DP-to-VGA/HDMI and a DP ReDriver(TM). The new DisplayPort ReDriver signal conditioner offers system stability in PC design, and expands Pericom's leading-edge ReDriver family for PCI Express(R), SATA/SAS and HDMI. The DisplayPort Multiplexer/De-multiplexer family, allows users to expand the digital video ports of the graphics processor, or can efficiently drive a single panel with multiple graphics sources. The DP electrical bridges allow interoperability with older video standards such as DVI, HDMI, and VGA and expand the existing line-up of Pericom level shifters for digital display that include DP-to-HDMI/DVI.

"The PC computing market will see DisplayPort enabled device shipments growing from 18% in 2009 to 77% in 2011," said Brian O'Rourke, principal analyst for the Enabling Technologies Group at In-Stat. "Pericom's latest video switching solutions in DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA are well positioned to connect the PCs to the monitors that are based on old and new protocol standards."

"Rapid adoption of the new DP standard is made possible by the availability of DP connectors on new computers -- supported by the latest chipsets from Nvidia, Intel, and AMD," said Abdullah Raouf, product manager of DisplayPort Solutions at Pericom. "We provide the bridging scheme required for a short interim until the displays also migrate towards DP; DisplayPort implementation is more accessible with our new ReDriver and DP switches."

Pericom will showcase these innovative DisplayPort solutions at CES International, Las Vegas, January 8 through 11, 2009. The company's demo will be in the Sands Convention Center, booth #73611 as part of the DisplayPort Tech Zone, hosted by VESA (http://www.vesa.org).

DisplayPort (DP) is a license-free next-generation digital audio/video interconnect standard (VESA 2007) used between computer and display monitor and widely supported by companies such as Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Fujitsu and Sony.

    Key Features & Benefits
-- DP solutions provide 8KV of ESD protection, eliminating external ESD
