ABnote Announces 25.9% Increase in Net Income in a Period Marked by Plant Consolidation

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Banknote S.A. (Bovespa: ABNB3 common shares), the leader in solutions involving plastic cards, identification systems and printing service management in the market it operates, announces its results for the third quarter of 2008 (3Q08). Except where stated otherwise, financial and operational information herein is presented on a consolidated basis including our direct and indirect subsidiaries Trust, Transtex, Interprint, Tecnoformas and Incard, in accordance with the Brazilian Corporate Law.

    Highlights of the Period
    -- Record net income of R$ 23.3 million in 3Q08, up 25.9% year on year;

    -- EBITDA growth of 34.7% over 3Q07, totaling R$ 43.1 million;

-- Beginning of plant consolidation leads to expenses of R$ 4.1 million. Consolidation is expected to be concluded in December 2008;

-- Revenue from Print Services grows 116.3% over 3Q07;

-- Payment of interest on equity amounting to R$ 0.152941 per share on August 14, 2008;

-- 9M08 Revenue increased 46.5% over the same period of the previous year.
