Gammill(R) Quilting Systems Announces 2008 'Quilt For Life(TM)' Program With the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC)

WEST PLAINS, Mo., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- GAMMILL QUILTING SYSTEMS, a world-class leader in hand and computer-guided longarm quilting systems, has entered into a 2008 partnership agreement with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) to help Break the Silence about ovarian cancer! Often referred to as the "silent killer" due to the false yet common belief that there are no warning signs or symptoms, ovarian cancer is the most deadly reproductive cancer.

The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's mission is to raise awareness and promote education about ovarian cancer. NOCC provides help and hope for ovarian cancer with public education and awareness, state chapters, a toll-free Help Line, comprehensive web site, peer support, publications and special projects. It is estimated that more than 22,000 women will be told they have ovarian cancer this year, and more than 15,000 will die from this deadly cancer. Ovarian cancer ranks fifth in cancer deaths among women. At present, about 80% of these cancers are diagnosed at a late stage when chances of survival are greatly reduced, compared to the 20% of women diagnosed at an early stage of the disease.

"We believe our "Quilt for Life" campaign [whereby Gammill will make donations to the NOCC via the support of its customer's selection of a Limited Edition Teal color option offered on new longarm quilting machines] will help Break the Silence about ovarian cancer. Only 15 percent of women are familiar with the symptoms of ovarian cancer, and 82 percent have never talked to their doctors about the symptoms and risk factors," said Ronald D. Parker, Chief Executive Officer of Gammill, Inc. "It's a cause that's both worthwhile and appropriate for us to support with our largely female customer base."

"The NOCC is grateful to Gammill, Inc. for their 2008 support, funded through sales of teal colored machines," stated Jane Langridge, Chief Executive Officer of NOCC. "Their valued partnership will help us fulfill our mission of saving lives by raising awareness and promoting education about ovarian cancer."
