MTA licensed EmpCenter Time and Attendance, Activity Based Costing, Employee Self-Service, and Accruals and Absence Manager to replace its antiquated workforce system.

Automating and supporting complex pay rules, such as compliance with union labor agreements, organization-specific hourly and salary employee guidelines, overtime policies, and state and federal regulations was critical for MTA. For years, the organization used a system that was developed in-house, and it became significantly outdated over time. When upgrading its HR and payroll systems, MTA realized its workforce management system could no longer support its business. Although this was a key motivator in looking for a new solution, the organization identified several benefits it would gain by using EmpCenter Online.

"For example, when an employee works overtime, he or she will simply enter the total hours and the system will calculate straight-time hours and overtime hours. In the past, the employee would have to specify which hours were applied to overtime, paid time-off, holidays, etc. The system will also notify managers when time needs to be approved and allow them to approve or disapprove time from any web browser."
EmpCenter Online will save employees' time, and the Employee Self-Service functionality empowers employees to enter time, request time-off, as well as access information such as available time-off, scheduled time-off, benefits information, and more. As a result, payroll or HR personnel will have more time to handle other responsibilities and increase productivity.
In addition to increasing productivity for payroll and HR departments, EmpCenter Online will allow the IT staff to focus on more critical tasks. EmpCenter Online is a SAS 70 Certified SaaS system, which is hosted in secure redundant locations with back-up power to ensure 24/7 uptime. The controls, processes, and procedures for EmpCenter Online's hosting centers were developed in consultation with a major accounting/audit firm and use the industry standard COBIT framework. The controls have been documented, revised, and tested over several months, earning WorkForce Software a Type I SAS 70 certification in June 2007, and a Type II SAS 70 certification in October 2007.
