Chief Operating Officer of Pulvermedia Events Christopher Erb Announces New Open Source Initiatives

BOSTON, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Pulvermedia today announced two open source initiatives, with the purchase of Open Source Telephony Magazine, and with an extended partnership with Digium to bring the Digium/Asterisk World event to VON Europe Amsterdam, in June of 2008.

Pulvermedia has been working with Digium throughout 2007 to plan, promote and launch the Digium/Asterisk World event next week at Fall VON in Boston. Pre-registered attendance has exceeded initial expectations, and the event has played a key role in the overall success of the Fall VON program. As a result, Pulvermedia and Digium plan to bring the Digium/Asterisk World event to Europe, as part of the VON program in Amsterdam, and the two companies will also host a Digium/Asterisk World event in San Jose as part of Spring VON, in March of 2008.

With millions of downloaded versions of Asterisk all over the world, open source telephony has become the latest source of telephony growth and innovation. Digium/Asterisk World brings the leading open source influencers, developers, vendors, resellers and end-users to VON to conduct business, and to discuss the current and future trends affecting open source development.

"Open source has proven itself to be a significant player in the telecommunications space, and we'll continue to provide open source training and education programs at VON," said Chief Operating Officer of Pulvermedia events, Christopher Erb. "Our partnership with Digium is a longstanding and successful one, and we're looking forward to continued efforts together in the year ahead."

Pulvermedia also announced today it has purchased Open Source Telephony Magazine. OST is the only publication dedicated exclusively to covering the rapidly changing world of free and open source telephony software and hardware. VON Publishing will continue the OST tradition of covering all aspects of open source communications: technical, commercial, social and legal. OST subscribers will begin receiving VON Magazine this month, and OST advertisers will reach this active and growing community through VON Magazine and VON Focus.
