LeftHand Networks to Highlight Virtualized iSCSI SAN Solutions and Customer Successes at VMworld 2007

LeftHand's iSCSI SAN Solutions Now Supported through VMware Consolidated Backup, Giving Users Advanced Capabilities that Address Critical Data Availability and Recovery Needs

BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- LeftHand Networks(R) will demonstrate its commitment to storage virtualization systems through its open iSCSI SAN approach at VMworld 2007 through a series of demonstrations and presentations featuring its flagship storage software platform, SAN/iQ. LeftHand will demonstrate how it is removing the barriers for virtualization adoption by developing virtualized iSCSI SAN solutions that mirror the advanced virtualization capabilities of VMware Infrastructure and address critical data availability and disaster recovery needs for end-users. Additionally, LeftHand Networks customers will be participating in the event, sharing their success and discussing the value that LeftHand Networks has provided them.

Storage virtualization took an important step forward with the release of VMware Consolidated Backup version 1..0.3 which supports iSCSI storage by allowing virtual machines residing on compatible iSCSI arrays to be backed up through the framework. The result is that end users can now simplify IT operations and respond faster to changing business demands by implementing a virtualized server environment using LeftHand's open iSCSI SAN storage. LeftHand's SAN/iQ platform turns enterprise-class x86 servers into scalable network storage ideal for server consolidation and virtualization projects making virtualization an easy decision for customers with disaster recovery and data availability requirements.

"LeftHand's relationship and compatibility with VMware was critical in our decision to go with SAN/iQ," said Marty Strasser, manager of IS Support at Baxa Corporation. "VMware and LeftHand's SAN/iQ software in combination make disaster recovery and highly available failover a reality for Baxa. We are currently using VMware ESX Server, VMware VMotion and VMware Distributed Resource Schedule (DRS), and have found that each of these advanced features of VMware Infrastructure integrates seamlessly with the features of the LeftHand SAN. VMware Consolidated Backup support was a huge factor in our decision to virtualize our server environment and the added support for iSCSI will play an important role in our developing disaster recovery strategies."
