HAYWARD, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Authenex(R) (a leading provider of cost-effective e-security applications) and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has announced the successful deployment of Authenex A-Key(R) tokens with ACert(R) software for portable, secure remote access.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare provides a wide range of services to promote and protect the health and safety of Idaho residents. The department offers programs that deal with complex social, economic and individual issues. Their programs range from Medicaid to Food Stamps, Child Protection to Disease Prevention. Last year, the Department helped almost 340,000, one out of every four Idahoans.

"We wanted a secure device that our users could take anywhere, use easily, yet would withstand the punishment of, for example, a wash and dry cycle. And it had to make our user's digital certificates available every time," said Scott Knights, Sr. IT Systems Security Analyst for the department.

Anything stored on an A-Key(R) token (user IDs/passwords, URLs, certificates, documents) is encrypted on-the-fly with 128-bit AES encryption. A-Key(R) token circuitry is covered with tamper-evident injection-molded plastic. They have no doors, covers, or vents that allow physical access.

Residing on each of the department's tokens is ACert(R) software, the most versatile platform for storing and using certificates available today. ACert(R)-stored certificates can be used on any Windows 2000 or XP machine for PKI-related activities, without having to install anything.

"It's an honor to have the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare as a customer and it is rewarding to know that we can provide a solution that gives them confidence in who accesses their valuable data," said William Chen, V.P. of Sales for Authenex.
