VIENNA, Va., May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Government Solutions, a business unit of AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) , has been awarded a five-year $30 million contract from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide Managed Telecommunications Services to multiple CDC locations throughout the country.
Under the terms of the contract, AT&T will provide the CDC Information Technology Services Office with managed telecommunications and support services for its existing PBX and cabling systems. AT&T will provide the CDC with a dedicated staff of employees responsible for maintaining and updating the CDC's telecommunications infrastructure.
"All federal agencies are under pressure to reduce costs and to improve productivity with fewer resources," said Don Herring, senior vice president of AT&T Government Solutions. "AT&T's expertise will help CDC maximize its network potential allowing CDC to focus on critical business initiatives."
AT&T will perform a broad range of support activities for the CDC, including program and operations management, design engineering, help desk support, and PBX and cabling services. AT&T will also manage the design, coordination and implementation of all CDC special networking projects.
The contract has a two-year base with a three-year option. AT&T will support 14 CDC locations in Atlanta, Ga.; Cincinnati, Ohio, and Hyattsville, Md. The CDC has approximately 6,500 employees.
