SonicWALL Data Backup and Recovery Delivers Rapid Growth and New Customer Set for IT Consulting Firm

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IT consulting firm, Primary Support Solutions, a SonicWALL (NASDAQ: SNWL) Gold Medallion partner, announced today that it achieved a 300 per cent growth in its SonicWALL business during 2006, fueled by growing demand from small and medium-sized businesses for data recovery and backup technology. Based in New York City, Primary Support specializes in network security and disaster recovery planning.

Primary Support uses SonicWALL's Continuous Data Protection (CDP) solutions to help prevent more than a dozen potential data disasters for its customers. The IT consulting firm says that SonicWALL CDP has been instrumental in enabling it to expand its client base, as well as deepen its relationships with existing customers. During 2006, Primary Support introduced its customers to the new SonicWALL CDP Series, which is designed to provide continuous, real-time back-up of data for servers, laptops and PCs so that any version of a file can be quickly recovered with just a few keystrokes. This easy-to-manage technology frees users from the complexities and inefficiencies of tape backup and offers an automated method of reducing downtime after data loss.

"The demand for continuous data protection is growing tremendously as data loss due to inefficient tape backup systems has grown," said Ronnie Parisella, chief technology officer of Primary Support Solutions. "Additionally, natural disasters, from hurricanes to tornadoes, have forced companies to take a serious look at their data backup and recovery strategies. SonicWALL CDP devices have already saved our customers' data on a number of occasions. Our relationship with SonicWALL has been pivotal to our success in deploying CDP solutions and protecting our clients' data. SonicWALL has proven itself by going the extra mile in every way possible to make sure that we are comfortable with the solution and are prepared to meet customer demand for the new CDP product line."

Primary Support was among the first SonicWALL channel partners to test and install the SonicWALL CDP technology to protect its network data. Having demonstrated the effectiveness of the device internally, Primary Support has deployed CDP appliances for a number of customers, including Miami-based cigar manufacturer, Drew Estate. When hurricanes knocked out power to Drew Estate's Miami office in August 2006, Primary Support had already remotely backed up more than 500GB of data to NYC using two SonicWALL CDP 3440i devices, and allowing Drew Estate's information to be swiftly and safely recovered from the CDP device in their NYC Co-location facility.

The majority of Primary Support's SonicWALL CDP customers are also using SonicWALL's offsite data backup services. Primary Support manages each CDP device, including implementing backup and recovery policies at the network or user level, recovering deleted files or viewing vital statistics from a remote location. Primary Support also implements comprehensive backup policies for their clients' Exchange, SQL and Active Directory Services.

"Primary Support's ability to provide a reliable backup and recovery solution has become an essential element of its business offering," said Steve Goodman, vice president of business continuity solutions at SonicWALL. "More than 100 small and medium-sized businesses in the New York metropolitan area rely on Primary Support to recommend IT products and services that will help their businesses thrive, as well as support their technology needs. The demand for easy to use data backup and recovery technology has helped take Primary Support's SonicWALL business to another level, while delivering end-to-end protection and peace of mind for Primary Support and its customers."

"The hallmark of SonicWALL CDP's success is its simplicity," added Parisella. "There is no complex installation necessary and even novice users can quickly and easily restore data from the device with ease. We are committed to the SonicWALL CDP product line for our customers because we recognize the importance of reliable backup and recovery services for our own business. Consequently, we are no longer worried about our clients losing data."
