COSTA MESA, Calif., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- VaultStor Corporation today announced its first product designed to protect customers' on-site data from fire and water damage. VaultStor's Disaster Recovery Vault (DRV(TM)) is the only Networked Attached Storage device tested at UL and compliant with UL 72 150 1 hour (1700 degrees F) and water immersion to 33 feet. Unique to the Disaster Recovery market, VaultStor's DRV(TM) maintains hard disk temperatures below manufacturers' 150 degrees F at all times.
Announced at the 2007 Data Protection Summit in Irvine, California this week, VaultStor's DRV(TM) has been designed to be compatible with existing and emerging backup and recovery software, and to operate with industry standard NAS and IP SAN protocols.
The DRV(TM) uniquely enables transparent, low cost, high performance, on- site CDP solutions which for the first time can cost effectively protect not just servers but every PC as well. Many companies use unprotected onsite CDP today, only to realize after a disaster, just how much crucial data was hidden on their employees desktop and laptop computers.
Emerging security and liability trends related to data loss or theft, are causing most companies to re-think where, how and to whom they send backups with sensitive customer or patient data. The DRV(TM) provides a new and effective tool in the war against data loss, HIPPA and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
VaultStor's DRV(TM) is a fully redundant, managed, disaster hardened device. Best of class redundancy gives customers comfort, knowing that their critical data is being backed up and is always available to them. Capacities scale from 500 GB to over 250TB, with performance scaling from 100MB/s to over 1000MB/s.
"Our research has shown that protecting on-site data, in a secure, simple, and cost effective manner, is a requirement that crosses all industry sectors and sizes," explained Tom Hanan, VaultStor's President and Founder. "Additionally, we have found that recent changes in disclosure laws have made companies much more aware of their own risks when handing their customers' or patients' sensitive data to an off-site, third party."
