TekVet Announces Multiple Use Capability for TekSensors

NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- TekVet(TM), LLC, a Utah-based developer of agricultural technologies, today announced that the company's TekSensor has been outfitted with a more rugged design and longer lasting battery specifically designed for multiple use applications over a two-year period. The reusability of the new TekSensor will allow beef and dairy producers to amortize the cost of the $20.00 device over several uses.

"Our technology is advanced enough and our TekSensors durable enough, that we believe each unit can be used for up to two years and in as many as six different animals," said D. Bret Smith, TekVet chief executive officer. "This means an incredible, amortized cost savings for feedlot producers. The original cost per unit remains at $20/each, but over the two year period and with multiple applications, the overall average cost per animal reduces to about $3.30 or lower."

The TekVet System is the nation's first automated radio frequency (RF) wireless solution designed to constantly monitor the core temperatures of large livestock within the 418 MHz range of approximately 300 to 500 feet, while capturing vital historical data through a private network. TekVet has already begun partnership activities with universities and non-profit research institutions, where researchers can capitalize on TekVet's RFID technology and investigate the impact of the technology on numerous related issues.

Mr. Smith continued, "Our goal is to provide beef and dairy producers the most advanced technological means of monitoring the health and well being of their animals. We know the TekSensor meets or exceeds the most stringent current health and safety standards and now we go one step further in offering the most cost effective means to do that."
