SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- IBDNetwork, the Silicon Valley- based 'Club for Dealmakers(TM)', today announced the winners of its Under the Radar Innovation Awards. Held on November 16, 2005 in Mountain View, CA, the Under the Radar event featured 32 companies within four categories -- wireless applications, datacenter, infrastructure, and next-generation business intelligence.
The Under the Radar Innovation Award winners were chosen by a panel of venture capital judges as the companies most likely to succeed within their sector. Venture capitalist judges were asked to rate companies based on their technology, market opportunities, partnerships, and customers. The one company with the highest score, in each category, was the final winner. The winners are as follows:
Wireless applications - T3CI http://www.t3ci.com/
Datacenter - Fortify Software
http://www.fortifysoftware.com/
Infrastructure - Reconnex http://www.reconnex.net/
Next-generation business intelligence - Zimbra http://www.zimbra.com/
"We don't give the presenting companies an easy time. We're not here to sugar-coat our feedback but to give each company advice which can make its business stronger. Some firms however stand out. They've got it right, and those are the ones we select as the Innovation Award winners," said Mitchell Kertzman, partner, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners.
At the end of each track, the audience also has the opportunity to vote on which company it believes will succeed. While only four winners were ultimately selected, most companies walked away with stacks of business cards from potential buyers, investors, and partners.
"Under the Radar is essentially a start-up beauty pageant -- it's a fun, low-risk forum for start-ups to road-test their technology and go-to-market strategies. I was particularly impressed with the quality and insight of the judges, and thanks to the interaction in the hallways, Zimbra now has a dozen new partnering opportunities to follow-up on," said Scott Dietzen. Ph.D. President and CTO, Zimbra.
Past winners of the Under the Radar Innovation Awards include: FatLens, Blue Titan, Ipedo, Wondir, Medio Systems, Akimbo, ArrayComm, Attensity, Commendo Software, Inxight Software, Nisvara, GroundWork, Mirra, Orb Networks, nLayers, Peerflix, Tableau Software, Qovia, Idetic, Akonix Systems and LinkedIn.
