NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Satellite Tracking of People, LLC ("STOP"), the successor to General Dynamic's VeriTracks(R) business, a GPS- based offender tracking and reporting system, announced today that it has filed a patent infringement action against Pro Tech Monitoring (Odessa, FL) in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. STOP's federal complaint alleges that Pro Tech's CrimeTrax(R) crime scene correlation system infringes STOP's U.S. Patent No. 6,405,213 B1, entitled "System to Correlate Crime Incidents with a Subject's Location Using Crime Incident Data and a Subject Location Recording Device," and seeks a permanent injunction prohibiting Pro Tech from continuing to offer its unlicensed crime scene correlation product.
According to Steve Logan, STOP's CEO, "VeriTracks(R) is pioneering technology in the field of crime scene correlation. Both General Dynamics and STOP have made substantial investments to develop and deploy this proprietary technology over the past five years as a system that today meets the needs of our customers. The intellectual property associated with our VeriTracks(R) technology is an integral asset of our company, and one which we intend to defend and enforce vigorously as STOP continues to expand its presence in the GPS offender tracking arena."
