Gulbrandsen to Increase Prices for Polyurethane Additives

ORANGEBURG, S.C., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Gulbrandsen Chemicals Inc. announced today that it will increase the price of T-Cat tin catalysts and CP-2 flame retardant for deliveries on or after June 1, 2008 or as contracts permit.

The price for T-Cat stannous octoate products will increase by 20% at that time and stannous octoate dilutions along with T-Cat 120 will increase in proportion to their respective tin metal concentrations. The price for CP-2 flame retardant will rise by 5%.

Gulbrandsen said that the increase in stannous octoate is being driven primarily by the rising cost of raw materials. Tin metal on the London Metal Exchange (LME) has soared by 50% in 2008 alone and both T-Cat stannous octoate and CP-2 flame retardants are being affected by the rising cost of energy and transportation.

T-Cat catalysts and CP-2 flame retardants are used in a wide range of flexible polyurethane foams for both residential and automotive seating and for bedding applications.
