The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board Taps Cavalier for Telecommunication Services
RICHMOND, Va., April 7, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cavalier, the U.S.' leading CLEC (competitive local exchange carrier) provider of telecommunications services for business, government and residential customers, announces the award of a contract from the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigative Board (CSB). Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the CSB is an independent federal agency that investigates industrial chemical accidents. The CSB collaborates with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as well as companies and government agencies, in safety regulation.
Under this five-year contract agreement, Cavalier will provide the CSB with voice and internet services to support their investigative and administrative efforts. As reflected in its name, the CSB conducts root cause investigations of chemical accidents at fixed industrial facilities. Congress designed the CSB to function independently and provides in law that no other agency or executive branch may direct the activities of the Board.
"Cavalier is proud to play a key role in the CSB's efforts to investigate chemical accidents and environmental hazards. The CSB requires the highest level of security, reliability and service and we're committed to delivering services that meet these needs." said Cavalier's Government Sales Director, Mike Magliato.
"We feel that there is an undeniable fit between the needs of Federal telecommunications users and the robust fiber network that Cavalier has built throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. We are extremely pleased with this announcement and the positive impact that it will have for the Government and Cavalier," adds Magliato.
Since 2003, Cavalier has been serving governmental entities such as Veterans Affairs, NATO, United States Courts, United States Treasury, and the Department of Defense. The CSB contract award allows Cavalier to add another federal agency to the growing list of those taking advantage of the reliable telecommunication services they have to offer.
