Iraq War Veteran Memoir Wins International Book Award

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- In the Company of Soldiers by Melia Meichelbock receives an Honorable Mention in the Biography/Autobiography category of the London Book Festival.

"It's an honor to be recognized both nationally and overseas at the London Book Festival," says author Melia Meichelbock. Meichelbock was previously recognized in the 2008 National Best Book Awards. "I hope readers gain an insight like no other with a no holds barred tell-all glimpse into the war--from living with all men in horrible living conditions to the plethora of extra-marital affairs and charges against my superior officers."

As one of the few women allowed on the front lines and sent to mix with Iraqi locals, Meichelbock recounts experiences that you can't find anywhere else on the book shelves. The book gives individuals in the military and civilians alike a candid you-are-there perspective on life as an American solider in Iraq, all told with a few healthy doses of humor to help you enjoy the read along the way.

Ten percent of all book sales profits go to aid disabled veterans.

The London Book Festival is produced by JM Northern Media. Their properties include The DIY Convention: Do It Yourself in Film, Music & Books; The DIY Music Festival; The DIY Film Festival; The DIY Book Festival; The New York Book Festival; The Hollywood Book Festival; OFFtheCHARTS.com; The DIYReporter.com; and BookFestivals.com.
