GREENWICH, Conn., Sept 5 /PRNewswire/ -- General Atlantic LLC (GA), a leading global growth equity firm, today announced that, effective September 1, 2007, Jeff X. Leng will join GA as a managing director in the firm's Hong Kong, China office.
This appointment reflects GA's ongoing commitment to expand its global team of nearly 70 investment professionals and its positive long-term view of China and Asia as an area for growth equity investment. Founded in 1980, GA manages approximately $15 billion, investing over $1 billion per year in growth companies globally. The firm has invested nearly $500 million in China since 2000 in industry leaders such as Lenovo and WuXi PharmaTech among others.
Mr. Leng has been an active investor in the private equity industry in China since 1999, and has deep relationships with entrepreneurs, executives, experts, advisors, government officials and regulators in the region. He has served on the boards of directors of Hayao Group (alternate), China Hui Yuan Juice, GUM Holdings, and Lepu Medical. Mr. Leng will work closely with GA's Hong Kong-based investment team, including managing director Vince Feng, who will transition to a senior advisory role at the end of the year.

Mr. Leng was most recently a managing director at Warburg Pincus, which he joined in 1999. Mr. Leng previously was in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley, and held positions at China Southern Securities and the Ministry of Aviation of China. He received his B.S. from the Business School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
