BOSTON, April 2, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- PRQA|Programming Research, the leading provider of coding standard enforcement solutions, today announced they will enforce MISRA-C++:2008.
QA-MISRA(TM), the most widely-used solution for the automatic enforcement of the current MISRA Guidelines, will support MISRA-C++:2008. PRQA will release its added enforcement capability immediately upon MISRA's public release of the new standard.
PRQA already delivers the highest level of automatic enforcement available for MISRA-C:1998 and MISRA-C:2004, the MISRA standards now available for the C language. PRQA is confident that it will maintain its worldwide leadership position in MISRA enforcement when it adds support for the upcoming MISRA-C++:2008 coding standard.
PRQA is a founding member the MISRA-C Working Group and has actively provided key technical guidance and assistance to MISRA (http://www.misra.org.uk) since they first began promoting best practices for software development in the automotive industry. PRQA made significant contributions to help MISRA create its first MISRA-C standard and has continued to aid them through its evolution. PRQA's unmatched coding standard experience plus C++ language expertise proved valuable once again to MISRA when they set out to provide an equivalent standard for C++.
HIGH·INTEGRITY C++(TM), the well-known C++ coding standard developed by PRQA and enforced by its QA·HICPP(TM) product, served as a key reference document for the MISRA-C++:2008 coding standard. The HIGH·INTEGRITY C++(TM) manual can be downloaded at http://www.codingstandard.com.
MISRA also referenced the JSF++ coding standard document in MISRA-C++: 2008. PRQA worked with Kevin Carroll at Lockheed Martin and Bjarne Stroustrup, the major contributors to JSF++, while developing its product to enforce that C++ coding standard. QA·JSF++(TM) now delivers the highest level of enforcement available today.
PRQA has a keen understanding of the intent and enforcement strategies of both HIGH·INTEGRITY C++(TM) and JSF++ and was able to share its insight to help MISRA create MISRA-C++:2008.
QA-MISRA(TM) for MISRA-C++:2008 is powered by the advanced C++ language parsing engine in PRQA's QA·C++(TM) product. Commercially-hardened and used by C++ developers worldwide, it is well-suited to enforce the rules embodied in the new MISRA standard.
QA-MISRA(TM) for MISRA-C++:2008 will be available upon MISRA's official release date of June 5, 2008.
