Dali Art Revealed

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Author and journalist Lee Catterall and Michigan-based art dealers, Park West Gallery, have announced the publication of a new book which will update the continuing story of the murky underworld of counterfeit art attributed to the Spanish artist Salvador Dali.

The Great Dali Art Fraud and other Deceptions, Revisited will take up where Catterall left off in his first book, The Great Dali Art Fraud and Other Deceptions, published in 1992. The new book will focus on achieving "clarity and accuracy on the subject matter and will contain authoritative opinions relating to the authenticity of published works of Salvador Dali," according to the agreement between the parties.

Park West CEO Albert Scaglione has been diligently working to clean up the Dali print market since the 1970s, and has maintained relationships with some of the most important dealers, experts and estates of authentic Dali artworks.

"I'm delighted to be involved in the publication of Lee's newest book. His journalistic credentials and integrity are well known throughout the art world. More importantly, Lee is the perfect individual to update this story due to his accuracy and fairness. His first book was widely respected by honest art dealers, law-enforcement agencies and the general public. Many things have transpired since the time of the last book's publication, and we believe it is critical that the book be updated," Scaglione said.

"I am very pleased that Park West has stepped in to assist in the publication of the updated version of my book. I am particularly impressed with the support they have given me for complete content control and sole and absolute discretion. Their confidence in me is greatly appreciated," said Catterall about the project.

The publication is due to be released in summer 2008 and will be distributed by Geffen Publishing.

Lee Catterall has been a contributor to The National Law Journal and reported for the Associated Press. He is an editorial writer for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, and was a reporter for the Star-Bulletin covering legal affairs when he began investigating the great Dali frauds found in various art galleries in Hawaii. In the 1990s Mr. Catterall was instrumental in exposing the Center Art Gallery sales of Fraudulent Dali artworks and others at that time. His publication of The Great Dali Art Fraud and Other Deceptions is considered the definitive work on the subject.
