UTC Names J. Michael McQuade as Senior Vice President, Science & Technology

HARTFORD, Conn., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) today named J. Michael McQuade as Senior Vice President for Science & Technology, effective Sept. 11, 2006. His responsibilities will include UTC's Research Center and providing strategic oversight and guidance for research and development activities throughout the Corporation. Jean Colpin, United Technologies Research Center's Director, will report to him as will division R&D executives on a dotted line basis. McQuade will report to UTC's Office of the Chief Executive, comprising Chairman and CEO George David and President and COO Louis Chenevert.

McQuade, 50, has held senior positions with technology development oversight at 3M and Eastman Kodak. Since January 2002, he has served as Vice President of 3M's Medical Division, with P&L and technology development responsibilities. Previously, he was President of Eastman Kodak's Health Imaging Business, including responsibility for its research laboratories. Prior to 1998, McQuade held several positions at Imation Corporation both before and after its spin-off from 3M in 1996.
