Sullivan-St.Clair Changes Its Name to Red Square

MOBILE, Ala., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Advertising and public relations agency Sullivan-St.Clair has changed its name to Red Square.

"We've decided to take the names off the door, as a reflection of who we've become as an agency -- an intensely passionate, creatively-driven group obsessed with producing great work for great clients," said Rich Sullivan, president and executive creative director.

The independent Mobile, Ala.-based agency was founded in 1977, and Sullivan believes the new name is a natural move in the evolution of the agency.

"My father started this agency in what was considered at the time by many as a 'maverick' move. And over the past eight years, we've assembled the smartest, hungriest thinkers who want to put their mark on the industry. A new agency culture has emerged, and although it's now bigger than 'Sullivan' or 'St.Clair,' that maverick spirit is what drives us," Sullivan noted. "Besides, in today's dynamic new media environment, an agency's history and its past accomplishments are of diminishing significance to prospective clients. We've got to stay relevant to grow."

The agency has spent the last few years honing its creative chops and recruiting talent from across the country. The effort has produced more than 30 percent revenue growth, year-over-year, for the past three years.

"The executive leadership, from strategy to creative to PR, has experience from some of the largest firms in the world, including Ogilvy & Mather, McCann-Erickson, JWT, BBDO, The Martin Agency and Arnold Worldwide. Couple this experience with the raw energy and talent of our younger staffers, and we've got something you don't find too often in an agency of our size," said Sullivan.

Campaigns from Red Square are based on a few key "house rules," including the belief that truth is the most powerful tool in advertising, that smart brands zig when others zag and the call for ideas to be unorthodox, unexpected and imaginative.

"We've earned a reputation regionally and nationally for consistently coming up with big ideas that generate big buzz. It's kind of taken on a momentum of its own -- and it began with us doing some smart, national award- winning work for a few, small clients. Now we're attracting clients with like sensibilities and expectations of great things," Sullivan observed.

Red Square projects billings to exceed $25 million for 2008.
